Delta Goodrem is one of Australia’s most renowned performers and it appears it runs in the family, however, the star has also has uncovered some unsavoury truths about her ancestry.
The 31-year-old appeared on on SBS program appearing on Who Do You Think You Are?, where she learned about a devastating side to her great grandmother Florence’s life.
On the show it is apparent that Florence gave birth to an illegitimate son Tom, fathered by Thomas Park who was involved with 'multiple criminal convictions for larceny and fraud'.
"It was like, did no one know this?" Goodrem said. "It was so fascinating to know Florence travelled with the theatre and that I had music firmly in my history."
Speaking to news.com.au, Goodrem explained that she discussed the news with her mother Lea and admitted that it took some time for Lea to "process" all of the information.
'My parents taught me such a good value system… the fact that my mum’s father’s father was not a respectable man was confronting,' she added.
