2. Some of the new cast have a kinky on-screen past
Kim Basinger's turn as Christian's business partner Elena isn't her first time dealing with risque material on film.
Basinger, now 62, starred in the erotic drama 9½ Weeks in 1986 alongside Mickey Rourke.
The film follows the – you guessed it – 9½-week provocative relationship between a Wall Street honcho and a divorcee. The pair's intense physical interactions increasingly lead to brushes with real-life danger.
3. The other new additions include some A-listers
Basinger isn't the only big star rounding out Darker's expanding cast of characters.
There's a little Teen Wolf crossover with Tyler Hoechlin stepping in as author Boyce Fox. Australian actress Bella Heathcote is also in the cast as the down-and-out former submissive Leila.
The Knick's Eric Johnson stars as Ana's boss Jack, and lovable Brit Hugh Dancy becomes Christian's psychiatrist Dr. John Flynn.
4. Expect some "crazy" good new music
If the trailer is any indication, the Darker soundtrack will include some of 2017's hottest singles.
Much like the Fifty Shades of Grey trailer's backing track, the new teaser features a cover of Beyoncé classic Crazy in Love. This time, the slowed-down version is performed by R&B sensation Miguel.
While no other songs from the upcoming movie's soundtrack have been revealed, it's safe to assume they'll match the assembled tuneage from Christian and Ana's first outing. The Weeknd shot to fame with Earned It, a feature on the album that nabbed him a Best Original song nomination at the Oscars, and Ellie Goulding's Love Me Like You Do helped her snag recognition at the Grammys.
5. There might be more of the "Dornan D"
While Johnson stripped down in Fifty Shades of Grey, Dornan left a little more to the imagination. Audiences noticed – and so did Johnson!
The actress teased that Dornan might show more skin in Darker during a Watch What Happens Live appearance earlier this year, promising, "I'm going to make him get fully naked in the next one."
She joked, "Everybody wants to see the D. The 'Dornan D.' "
Fifty Shades Darker hits cinemas on Feb. 14, 2017.
