When Tyler Henry was 10 years old, he woke up one day with a feeling that his grandmother was going to die. Later that morning, he and his mum learnt she had just passed after battling cancer. From that point on, the clairvoyant from central California says he uses his sixth sense to help comfort family, friends, everyday people and celebrities, most notably on Hollywood Medium, airing Tuesdays at 9.30 PM on E!
"I feel anybody watching the show can relate to something about it," Henry tells WHO. "There are people from all industries, all backgrounds, all walks of life. That's really the goal in doing this, to have people at home who might not be getting a one-on-one reading be able to turn on the TV and see or hear a story that touches them and maybe through things happening on the show, maybe they'll have a little more healing with their grief process."
Since his own grandmother died, "she has appeared in a couple instances and has just acknowledged that she basically helps me in this process," says Henry, 20. "It's just been incredible. I never thought that when my grandmother passed away that I would continue knowing her on an even deeper level than I got to when she was alive."

However, Henry does not tap into his own family history as much as he reads for strangers. "The reason why I oftentimes struggle to interpret information about myself is because I'm biased about myself, as most of us are," he says. "It can be difficult when you have your own fears and hopes and goals behind all of that."

In conveying messages to his subjects, whether they are actors like Kevin McHale or singers like Jewel, Henry increases his own connections from beyond. "I feel like in an hour's time, I start with meeting a complete stranger," he says, "and by the end of it, not only do I feel like I have a deeper understanding of them, but I feel like I've met their entire extended family!"

Henry adds, "I think that the dead have so much to teach us about life because when they come through, they have the wisdom and the perspective of 80, 90 years. That's something they can impart on us and in doing so, readings can help give advice that can change a person's life and maybe change the direction of a person's life."
