In handing down her findings, Justice Debra Mortimer did not impose a penalty, which will be determined later this year.
"I am satisfied the respondents engaged in conduct that was misleading or deceptive," said Mortimer of Gibson’s charity claims.
A CAV spokeswoman told WHO that penalties for such civil claims are “up to $1.1 million for companies and $220,000 for individuals.”
CAV also investigated allegations that Gibson had not handed over thousands of fund-raising dollars she had pledged to charities.
Gibson, who created the $3.79 The Whole Pantry recipe app, which was downloaded 300,000 times, and a spin-off cookbook, claimed she cured her cancer with her lifestyle, but in 2015 admitted she never had the disease.
