2017 just keeps looking better and better for Jimmy Kimmel: He’s going to be a dad again!
The late night host’s wife Molly McNearey is pregnant with their second child together, Kimmel announced on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on December 5.
Kimmel, who also revealed Monday that he will host the 89th Academy Awards ceremony in February, told audiences, “Also, my wife, is hosting a baby inside her body. So that’s what’s coming.”
“We got the ultrasound — which is weird because it’s like you’re already spying on the baby — but we asked the technician not to tell us whether we’re having a boy or a girl. Our plan is to let the child decide for itself,” Kimmel, 49, said. “We want that to be a surprise, but I have been trying to think of names that would work for a boy or girl. So far, I’ve come up with two: No. 1 Dyson after the vacuum or Gelatin with a J. No? That’s exactly what my wife said.”
He quipped, “So — there’s a lot of exciting stuff going on. Congratulations to me. I’m hosting the Oscars and I had sex. Two things as a teenage boy I never thought would be possible.”
The new addition will join big sister Jane, the couple’s 2-year-old daughter. Kimmel also has an adult son and daughter from his first marriage: Katie and Kevin.
Kimmel told PEOPLE last year that fatherhood is “really great.”
And despite having initial jitters about being the father of a little kid again, Kimmel said, “It does add a little bit of joy to each day. Maybe more than a little bit.”
