Like the rest of the hotel, the considered interiors of the spa, are a dream with a calming colour palate of millennial pinks, terracotta and pops of greenery.
My treatment room is filled with natural light and my therapist Isobella – who has luminous skin, I might add - explains the benefits of my Rose Quartz Spa Facial, [$139] a performance spa facial targeting firmness, lines and wrinkles using Spaceuticals by Waterlily products.
For the next 60 minutes, I feel utterly pampered as my skin is cleansed, exfoliated and hydrated with a plasma repair crème, a combination of cosmeceutical actives and botanical and naturopathic concentrates. When she wasn’t working her magic on my face, Isobella massaged my head and hands until I was close to falling into a deep, blissful sleep.
Botanica Day Spa, Melbourne
IT may be hailed as Australia’s cultural and food capital but Melbourne is also home to some world-class spas, like this five-star inner-city oasis.
Located in the InterContinental Melbourne the Rialto on the bustling Collins Street, its hardly surprising the tranquil Botanica is nominated for two awards – Luxury Hotel Spa and Luxury Urban Escape - at the prestigious 2019 World Luxury Spa Awards to be presented in Russia on July 6.
Opt for the signature treatment, Botanical Escape, which includes a foot soak and massage, a hot stone massage and facial or splash out on one of two luxe signature spa journeys like the Royal Botanica, which includes a gourmet spa lunch and glass of Chandon Brut.
The Day Spa by Chuan, The Langham Sydney
ESCAPE the hustle and bustle of city life inside The Day Spa by Chuan, hidden inside the five-star Langham Sydney located in the historical precinct of The Rocks.
We feel like VIPs the minute we set foot inside the luxurious foyer, opulent with pastel pink and green armchairs dotted across the marble floor.
We decide to make the most of the glamorous setting by enjoying a glass of Champagne in the Observatory Bar before our treatment and spot actress Denise Richards sitting nearby, which makes us feel just a little more glamorous.
After our bubbles, we ride the lift to the spa, where the colours of the foyer make an abrupt and intended disappearance, changing instead to creams and deep timber, glowing in a soft, calming light. We’re escorted into the change room where we slip out of our clothes and into a fluffy robe and slippers.
We enjoy an organic tea by the pool before our therapists escort us to a couple’s room for our treatment. We’re here for the lavish Babor Grand Cru facial, an anti-ageing, revitalising rose infused elixir treatment. We’re whisked away into complete and utter serenity as the therapists cleanse, massage and treat our skin.
I take a moment to peek over at my mum who is as blissful as I am, her eyes closed - a smile softly in her cheeks. After 90 minutes of pure bliss, we’re gently awoken.
We lie for a couple of minutes sharing compliments of the treatment but told not to rush and encouraged to enjoy a glass of Grand Cru champagne and freshly baked pink macaroons by the pool. We finish our perfect day with a dip in the pool, our skin noticeably firm and bright and feel extra special when given elixirs from the treatment to take home.
