After 14 years, Australian Idol has returned to our screens. Airing on Monday night, audiences witnessed the best (and worst) of Australia's vocal talent as they vied to make their way into the Top 50.
With judges Meghan Trainor, Amy Shark, Harry Connick Jr. and Kyle Sandilands manning the fort, they sure have their work cut out for them. Viewers, however, have been quick to call out Kyle for his, unsurprisingly, brash behaviour.

Seeing as Sandilands has built a name for himself as a "shock jock", his comments as an Australian Idol judge have been no different. Aside from the actual vocal assessment itself, Sandilands' "bully"-like comments have upset several viewers. Most notably, towards the end of the first episode, he critiqued a contestant's appearance saying he looked like a "serial killer".
Responding to this comment, one fan wrote, "Please respect the singers, but it’s ok for Kyle to insinuate that Ben’s a serial killer 🙄#AustralianIdol."

On the other hand, fans have also shared their upset with the show creators who chose him as a panellist, "What musical pedigree does Kyle Sandilands possess that qualifies him for #AustralianIdol ? Clearly none," another viewer tweeted.
"Why are we still giving Kyle Sandilands a platform?" another fan wrote.
Despite his appearance on the Idol reboot, Sandilands is no stranger to the the talent judging panel. He held a permanent position on the Idol judging panel from 2005 to 2009 and also appeared on The X Factor and Australia's Got Talent.
