In an Instagram story posted on Sunday, the 28-year-old joked to her followers that she would have to start dating the astrophysicists cardboard cut-out unless he returned from overseas soon.
“Come back from overseas now human, or I'll have to start dating this cardboard cut-out instead, ‘she wrote above a picture of her standing next to a cardboard version of her 32-year-old beau.
However, it appears as though the Melbourne-based reality TV star’s fans took her joke a little too literally, as shortly after her post, Chelsie popped back on to Instagram stories to clear up the confusion.
“Hey guys. I've had quite a few people message me and ask if Matt and I are still together,” she said in the video.
“And I can confirm that we are. And the reason that we haven't done any posts together in a while, is that he's overseas visiting his nephew who was born when we were filming.”
Last month, Matt and Chelsie opened up about how hard it was to keep their romance a secret before The Bachelor final aired.
"Not being able to see each other was difficult for both of us," Matt told 10 Daily.
"When you're having a lousy day, we couldn't just hang out and have a cuddle and support each other -- it was a challenging dynamic."
"I haven't dumped him," Chelsie said before Matt revealed: "Nor have I done a Blake Garvey! I've heard about a dozen rumours this week, but it's not a case of where there's smoke there's fire -- more like where there's smoke there's bullsh*t!"
