It seems as if self-love is a recurrent theme in Abbie’s personal life. Between her long workdays, business owner ventures (that’s right, she still manages her label Verbose), and dating life, Miss Chatfield is in her single girl era.
“I’m not dating anyone. I don’t want to be with anyone all year. This is my single year. I, obviously, was in a really serious relationship last year and now I don't want anyone to come near me. I'm like - I am so single. I want to remain single. I have like 5 million crushes on the go at any one time,” she said.
“I'm my crush era, you know, I just want to keep on dating people for fun and then when things aren't fun anymore, I'm just going to disappear into the bushes like that Homer Simpson meme because I don't want any drama.”
After speaking to Abbie, it’s clear that, between her public figure status and jam-packed schedule, a long-term relationship is just not on her radar right now.
“I'm too busy to have to be worrying about people replying to me or if I like them more… I’ve said that I have a three month dating rule. When I meet someone, I’m in it for three months. So, I am dating but just very, very casually - and definitely more than one person at a time, because I'm not… I do not want a relationship.”
“It actually gives me anxiety. The thought of it makes me want to, like, run.”
As seen in the messages she shares across her social media, podcast, and radio show; Abbie isn’t afraid to be honest. Particularly when it comes to her personal life, thoughts, or opinions. But, this sense of nationwide recognisability does not come without its challenges.

When asked about her boundaries between ‘sharing’ and ‘not sharing’, Abbie mused on how “annoying” dating as a public personality is.
“With work, I'm like, I don't want anyone to live with me. I definitely don't want them to live with me for at least like five years. And I think that if I was dating someone seriously, I definitely wouldn't speak about them publicly for at least like, two years. I'm just like ‘no’. Someone would have to be pretty amazing for me to want to date them. And even then, I think I'd be like, ‘give me two years’.”
“It’s really hard. Most people that I date now are in the public eye, not because I'm like, ‘I’m like… famous’, it’s because anyone I meet, I meet them because I interview them or because we DM or because we're at an event that’s similar, or we're on set together, or they will they interview me. It’s annoying having to wait until things are super, super, super serious. To be able to, like hard launch.”
She described this struggle as a “negotiation” between her and her potential partner. Between sharing her relationship publicly or keeping things private, she admits it’s something she’s still working on.
“It's not ideal but at least I get to, I don’t know- there’s not really a positive there. At least I get to go on a date with Yung Gravy publicly. Keen for that,” she jested.
As for her future plans, post “crush era”, Abbie said that she would love to retire by the time she’s 35 - where hanging out with friends, walking with her dog, and cooking extravagant dinners will be her new norm.
In the meantime, you’ll find her ordering on Uber Eats!
