During last year's season, Elly voiced her concerns that she thought Abbie wasn't taking the competition seriously and that she wasn't emotionally mature enough for Matt.
"She's a good time but I think maybe she thinks she's ready to move to Melbourne, to settle down with you and think about marriage and a family," Elly told Matt at the time.
"She's convincing but I don't think she's emotionally mature enough for that."
Elly's opinions resulted in a heated confrontation between the two with Abbie remarking: "I am disgusted by Elly, I think she's a horrible person who has a complete facade of being a nice person."
In the end, Elly was sent home whilst Abbie was the runner-up to eventual winner, Chelsie McLeod.
But in a chat with TV WEEK after her elimination last year, Elly revealed that she and Abbie had made amends and spoke before the show aired and during.
"You can't really get too caught up in what you should or shouldn't have done," Elly confessed to the publication.
"At the time I thought I was doing the right thing, and I was being protective over Matt because he's a great guy and I had really strong feelings for him. But, in saying that, watching it back you can see that Abbie and Matt do have a really strong connection," she added.
"Abbie is not a bad girl. She's very witty, very intelligent, and she's a lot of fun as well… she's just someone you don't want to come up against on The Bachelor, that's all."
Abbie previously confessed to WHO that she would love to take on the role of Bachelorette herself, but not for at least a year.
"I would do The Bachelorette because I think it works really well and there are some really good success stories from it," she said.
"I think it would be fun but I think I need a year or two off. I’m only 25 - I think the right age for it would be late twenties like Angie Kent, even though she and Carlin broke up which is really sad."
