While many fellow reality stars and influencers flooded the comments with their congrats, fans stumbled over Matt’s contribution, which read: “Congrats!! Got some golden peacocks sorted?”
“@drmattagnew still trying to find the perfect golden peacocks, but I got a coverlet instead of a doona so there are no bed making issues,” she replied.
“Trying to figure out if the transition to coverlet is a W because you’ve outsmarted the doona challenge, or an L because you’ve admitted defeat,” he responded.
“I think both. I am defeated. I can’t do this anymore,” she said.
WHAT IN BACHELOR NATION?
We're pretty sure that ‘golden peacocks’ refers to their photoshoot date, while the doona v. coverlet issue is a reference to the date they spent ‘moving in’ together, where they had to make up a bed with sheets and an – apparently difficult – doona cover, all within the 2019 season of The Bachelor.
In case you missed it, which you wouldn’t have if you’re familiar with the Internet, Abbie shot to stardom after being rejected by Matt on their season.
Matt took finalists Abbie and Chelsie McLeod to South Africa for the final days of the series, where he eventually dumped Abbie and chose Chelsie, beginning a relationship with her which went on to last, well, not very long.
However, Abbie’s social media savvy, and her absolute disdain for the public commentary surrounding her appearance on the show – which did often tend to paint her as a ‘crazy sex villain’ – meant she was able to launch a successful influencing career not long after her public heartbreak.
She’s now the host of Love Island Afterparty on Channel Nine, and has her own weekly podcast, It’s A Lot. She’s released a vibrator, a customised gin, and reportedly has a book in the works.
Rumours began to swirl that the pair were seeing each other recently, when fans noticed they were following each other on Instagram again.
They also happened to share almost identical shots from trips to the Blue Mountains earlier this year, but that evidence is tenuous at best.
Abbie also confirmed to the Shameless podcast that the pair are not together. Further, she was spotted smooching Konrad Bien-Stephens just last week, who is a current contestant on this season of The Bachelorette.
