Ashton says to follow cleansing with a micellar water, whose top picks are Bioderma and La Roche-Posay “I’ll use around the nose and forehead to get rid of any excess oil and then follow with a the Marc Jacobs Coconut Primer.”
Next you need to work out how much coverage you want and how you’re going to apply it. “Use a brush with a tapered head to get in and around the nose and under eyes, it’s like a paddle that you can really work, particularly around the jawline,” notes Ashton. Load the product on the brush and really buff it into the skin using circular motions, “As you need more product, load it on to the brush, stipple it on cheeks and polish out to the edges of your face,” says Ashton.
Ashton’s top tip is to blend Marc Jacobs Shameless Foundation, on the jawline “it’s something people often forget,” adding that on the red carpet he also applies “a little bit to the ears, because everybody’s ears are a little red; so just a little bit gets rid of any redness,” which is noticeable particularly if you’re rocking an up-do.
Don’t over-do it! Finish with a minimal amount of spot concealer. “If you get your foundation right first, you will only need concealer under the eyes, around the edges of the nose; down the high plane of the nose, below the bottom lip and on any spots,” says Ashton.
