Who Is Ali Oetjen?
Ali Oetjen is an Australian wellness guru and health blogger who first came on the scene as a contestant in season one of The Bachelor.
After an unsuccessful run (Tim inevitably picked Anna Heinrich), Ali took another shot at love in Bachelor In Paradise five years later, where she hit things off with Grant Kemp.
Sadly, Ali and Grant’s relationship didn’t survive outside of paradise, and by the finale, it was announced that the two had split.
Undeterred, Ali returned to TV screens as the 2018 Bachelorette, where she finally found love with banker and physical trainer Taite Radley. Although they gave it a crack, the couple announced their split in 2020.
But Bachelor-obsessives weren’t just concerned about Ali’s quest for love. Many eagle-eyed fans of the show also honed in on Ali’s changing looks.
Even her Bachelor in Paradise co-star Florence Alexandra couldn’t resist calling Ali “Malibu Barbie” and remarking that her face “didn’t move”. Ouch.
Has Ali Oetjen Had Plastic Surgery?
So, are the rumours true? Yes. In 2018, Ali opened up to The Sunday Telegraph about getting lip fillers and breast augmentation in the past. She admitted that she got her boob job for the wrong reasons.
“I did it for someone else”, she said regretfully. “I thought it would make them happy”.
Not wanting others to make the same mistake, she encouraged women to get cosmetic surgery done “for themselves, not anyone else” and said that she was considering getting her implants removed as she didn’t really like her boobs.
Ali followed through on those plans in July of 2019. New Idea reported that Ali announced via Instagram that she was preparing to go under the knife for a breast reduction.
But more on that later!
Ali Oetjen’s Transformation Over The Years
2013: The Bachelor
Before coming onto The Bachelor in 2013, Ali Oetjen was working as a receptionist at a real estate firm.
This photo from 2013 shows the blonde beauty in a modest glitter top and tube skirt with minimal makeup. Her lips are noticeably thinner here than they have appeared in recent years.
New Idea also unearthed some photos from way, way back, noting that she “appears to have thinner lips, a slightly different nose and a less prominent cleavage”.
2018: Bachelor In Paradise
Five years later, by the age of 32, Ali returned with a new look that some folks couldn’t quite place a finger on. Some speculated she’d gotten Botox, hence the Florence Alexandra comment about her immovable face!
And as being in Paradise meant the gals were bikinis practically all the time, her breasts became the subject of much speculation.
But around this time, that’s all it was – pure speculation.
2018: The Bachelorette
By the time The Bachelorette aired, Ali had already opened up about her plastic surgery, so her final stint on the show was less marred with cosmetic surgery rumours as it was about crazy conspiracy theories about fakery!
Even after Ali found true love after three attempts on the reality show, internet trolls wouldn’t stop hounding her for her “fake” body. Finally, Ali clapped back at an Instagram troll for criticising her “not really natural” boobs.
“In your eyes I'm not natural. In my eyes I'm a beautiful, kind, strong, nurturing soul who would take your hand if you ever needed it. I judge myself on that, not for a set of boobs I regret getting. #lessonslearnedinlife Judge a book not by its cover”, she replied.
They say you’re not supposed to feed the trolls, but in this instance, Ali was the one who chewed them up!
However, Ali has also had a hard time staying strong amid the constant criticism online. In February 2019, she penned a heartfelt letter to her bullies, begging them to consider other people’s feelings when passing judgment.
Now, we’re not quite sure if it had to do with the trolls or if Ali had just gotten tired of her implants (she did say she wasn’t fond of her boobs) but she finally went under the knife for a breast reduction surgery in July 2019.
These days, she’s looking hot and healthy as ever. Just check out this photo of her on rollerblades!
