The 2021 Wimbledon winner also shed some light on why she took her time announcing the engagement publicly, apparently taking about a week to enjoy her quiet engagement.
Apparently, Ash and Garry wanted to take their time informing family and close friends before making a big announcement, and at one point, they questioned whether they would make it public at all.
They ultimately decided to, announcing the engagement on November 23.
"Future Husband 💍❤️ @gazlfc90," she simply captioned an Instagram post featuring herself and Garry, her finger adorned with the ring she had helped design.
"15/11/2021 💍 I love you @ashbarty ❤" Garry shared on his own social media.
The couple were congratulated in the comments by a number of their high-profile friends.
"Yerrrrrr legend !!!! How good," wrote Elyse Knowles.
"Congratulations Ash & Garry!! What a match!" commented Sunrise presenter Mark Beretta.
"Cheers to the future ❤️Those smiles 🙌🏼," penned Ben Crowe, Ash's mindset coach.
Chantelle Otten, who is the partner of Ash's colleague and fellow tennis player, Dylan Alcott, simply left a row of happy emojis.
