After a quiet, non-ratings period, fans of Aussie reality TV are ready to dive back in to drama, challenges and hardships, and no show does that quite as well as Australian Survivor.

Channel 10’s hit show, modelled on the US version, which has amounted over 40 seasons, will be coming back next year for a seventh season.

And when we say ‘next year’, we mean ‘in just a few week’s time’.

Survivor returns January 31!

After releasing an extended trailer just last week, the Survivor AU Instagram has now confirmed that the show will be back on January 31, going in to bat against Married at First Sight, which will premiere on the same day.

However, Survivor can definitely hold its own, with the recently-aired sixth season pulling decent ratings in for Channel 10.

COVID-19 caused delays on the filming of the previous season, meaning it aired in the second half of 2021.

However, the 2022 season will see it return to its regular slot in January.

Fans of the show are already bubbling with excitement.

“Ahhhhhhhh wow that’s way sooner than I thought!!! 👏👏👏👏,” one wrote below the Instagram announcement.

“Best Christmas present ever 🔥,” another shared.

Die-hard supporters of the show have also been expressing their excitement that American Survivor star, Sandra Diaz-Twine, will be competing on this season.

Last week's trailer confirmed that Sandra would be appearing, and competing alongside her daughter, Nina, in order to fulfil the season’s theme – Blood Vs Water.

“I’m the queen of Survivor as I’m the first two-time winner ever,” Sandra says in a voice-over in the trailer.

“I have a secret weapon – my baby girl Nina. Y’all better look out, because I taught her well.”

In fact, all contestants will be competing alongside a family member in what is set to be Australia’s most explosive Survivor season yet.

Other confirmed contestants include past competitors Samantha Gash and Mark Wales, who met on an earlier season of the show and ended up getting married.

“Playing Survivor with your spouse is a very dangerous idea. But the good thing is, if one of us wins, we both win,” Mark could be heard saying in the trailer.

Let the games begin!
