He became the 16th person to be voted out of Australian Survivor this season, and while some may argue that John Eastoe’s nice-guy persona was his downfall in the tough competition, the underground gold miner stands by his decision to play by the rules.
WATCH: Australian Survivor rocked by cheating scandal:
Speaking to 10 Daily, John explained why he refused to lie or cheat his way through the competition.
"I just don’t think it’s natural for me to play dirty," he said.
"Some people find it easy to backstab but I said right from the get-go that I wanted to go and play the Good Bloke card. Then when I met Simon Black I realised that he trumped me for the Good Bloke card so if I could just play the Average Bloke card, I could get past on that."
Following his eliminating on Tuesday night’s episode, the mulleted miner reflected on his physical transformation.
“That’s probably the skinniest I’ve ever been, mate. That’s out of control. At least I lost the pot belly... all good!” he joked to the cameras.
