Australia's Got Talent: Meet the Top Ten
Channel 7 has just aired who has locked a spot as one of the top ten finalists for 2019's Australia's Got Talent!
Meet the contenders who will compete in next week's Grand Final!
1. Kristy Sellars: pole dancing
“I’ve had so many messages from people saying that I’ve changed the way they viewed pole performance,” the artist explains.
“That’s a huge accomplishment for me, because I love what I do, and for others to not attach it to any stigma or preconceived idea makes me very proud.”
2. Jennifer Anderson: singer
The 50-year-old admits she battled against her own inner negativity. “Getting out there and having a go felt like a terrifying risk,” Jennifer shares.
However, the positive reception has been life-changing, she says.
“After not believing in myself for so long, I can’t begin to explain the healing that’s been happening in my heart. It’s been so validating.”
3. Sienna Osborne: dancer
If Sienna were to win AGT, she knows her parents would love her to put the prize money into a savings account. But the teenage ‘warrior’ dancer has other ideas! “I’m sort of thinking ‘shopping account’,” Sienna laughs.
4. Mitch Tambo: dancer
Mitch Tambo’s modern Indigenous musical dance performances have blown away audiences and even brought the judges to tears. Judge Nicole Scherzinger awarded Mitch a Golden Buzzer.
“I’ve received so many messages about how my performance resonated and touched people, from Aboriginal elders from my own community to people who are identifying with their Aboriginality for the first time,” Mitch, 29, says.
5. Lioz Shom Tem: mentalist
“Australia shouldn’t vote for me. They should vote for Australian talent,’’ he says.
6. Umit Bali: comedian
Umit Bali’s stand-up routine has notonly been a hit on AGT – the comedian says his act “went viral in Fiji”! And he’s become a trailblazer throughout the world. “Apparently I’m the first Fijian-Indian to do stand-up on Western television,” he reveals.
7. Akrobita: acrobats
Choreographer and coach Jo Cotterill says the challenge has been to “push ourselves harder, work at more advanced, spectacular tricks and getting our teamwork to a level where we can trust each other with anything”.
8. Lil Kookies: dance crew
Junior hip-hop crew Lil Kookies’ choreographers Jet and Mims reveal their young protégés have become an instant sensation.
“The kids have people coming up to them in shopping centres and on the streets and wanting pictures,” the choreographers say. “And at their schools, they’ve become people others look up to.”
9. Captain Ruin: stunmant
His jaw-dropping stunts earned Captain Ruin a place in the grand final. But the stuntman says he’s saved the best for last. “For the finale, I’m doing something so crazy and epic that no-one has ever tried it on the show before!”
10. Olina Loau: singer
The young singer has impressed. “AGT has helped me in so many ways, especially with my confidence and my singing. It has made me realise that I can reach my goals.
To anyone considering applying, I would say you won’t regret it.”
