While footage shows an unknown man slipping a ring on the finger of a mystery woman, fans have pointed out that it’s not actually the traditional engagement ring finger.
“The old ‘wrong finger’ trick,” commented one fan, while another questioned whether an engagement will occur in reality, writing. “With a ring on an index finger? Doubtful.”
Echoing the same sentiment was another fan who penned, “Is the pointer the new engagement finger now?”
Meanwhile, another Bachelor in Paradise fan had a compelling theory that could explain the action and wondered if the “engagement ring” was actually a “commitment ring”.
Bachelor in Paradise was originally slated to kick off in March but was pushed back thanks to the outbreak of COVID-19.
Timm Hanly, Ciarran Stott, Abbie Chatfield, Brittany Hockley and Jamie Doran were the first five contestants officially announced to be taking part in the series, which films in Fiji.
The trailer reveals that Mary Viturino, Helena Sauzier, Jessica Brody, Cassandra Mamone and Brittney Weldon will be among the fellow reality stars joining them in Paradise.
And judging by the promo, the show will be anything but boring from the get-go, starting with a very nude entrance from cheeky Brit, Ciarran.
Matt Agnew’s runner-up Abbie makes it clear she has eyes for Ciarran, announcing, "I came here for Ciarran, he's hot and such a naughty boy."
A new twist is the inclusion of island dinner parties and it appears it won’t take long for tensions to escalate with the teaser also promising betrayal.
"There's so much he's lied about," a female voiceover says over dramatic scenes, adding "He's played everybody."
But along with the drama, there will be romance and three couples are said to fall in love by the time filming wraps.
Bachelor in Paradise is coming soon to Network Ten.
