She was put in an awkward position on Nick Cummins’ season of The Bachelor, and now Cassandra Wood, 24, has gone from the frying pan, into the fire, on Channel 10’s Bachelor In Paradise.
It’s no surprise she’s been cast on Bachelor in Paradise. Cass was one of the most talk-about women on that season of The Bachelor, when it was revealed she had previously ‘dated’ Nick. Her apparent obsession with the footballer saw her cruelly labelled a ‘stage 5 clinger,’ earning her plenty of sympathy – and ridicule – on social media.
But she wasn’t chosen by Nick, with whatever it was that happened between before not enough to give her an advantage on the show.
Breaking her silence after Nick infamously didn’t choose anyone at the end of the season, Cass extended her sympathy to the finalists – indicating she’s definitely a girls’ girl.
‘My two soulmates from day 1. Love you both to the moon and back,’ she wrote alongside a photo of herself with Sophie and Brittany.
With plenty of questions swirling about exactly how close she was to Nick, the starlet told WHO that they’d been together for ‘five months’, rather than anything more fleeting
‘We kissed and then after that we went on a few dates and we would hang out. Then he would travel overseas and I was busy as well, and when he was back in town we would catch up.
‘It was very stop start because when he was away we would chat, but we weren’t seeing each other all the time. I think the last time we really hung out properly like that was around Christmas and new year’s and then we were busy for the next few months until I saw him on the red carpet. I was happy because he is someone I could see myself with.’
Naïve Cass confessed she didn’t see her treatment on the show coming.
‘No to be honest, I had no idea,’ she said of her dumping. ‘Hometowns went really well and we had so much fun.
‘Then we came back to the mansion and there was that confrontation with Brittany which was unexpected, but after that I didn’t have a good feeling going into the rose ceremony, but before that, I honestly had no idea!’
Intense rumours swirled after her exit from The Bachelor – most notably that Cass was really dating Nick off screen, and even that she was seeing his brother, Jacob – something he denied.
