In the lead-up to The Bachelor In Paradise WHO caught up with Jake Ellis and the Queenslander revealed exactly what happened between himself and Flo, who he still speaks to and how much he enjoyed his time on the Fijian Island alongside love interest Megan Marx.
WHO: Are you impressed about how you were presented on the show?
JAKE: Yes and no... like the show was definitely fun and obviously towards the end Megan and I were coupled up – you know we were probably tested the most out of the couples who were in there. The biggest thing we wanted to do is, we were really enjoying time together – we just wanted to really keep an objective line. And not get caught up in a bubble.
WHO: How was the showdown with Flo?
JAKE: Look it was definitely hard having her come back in – it wasn’t something we were all expecting. As you can see from my reaction I wasn’t sure how to handle it. I think I definitely learned from the way I handled this – when Megan came into the series I didn’t want any drama between – I wanted to put it to bed. Of course I didn’t want to hurt anyone and I apologised for that. I guess I’m glad she came back in otherwise I wouldn’t have had that chance.
WHO: What did you tell Megan after you had the chat with Flo?
JAKE: So before, Megan was in an interview on a vox-pop and I interrupted her to let her know that I was going to go speak to Florence and try and clear the air – you know it was more doing it for her. I had that chat with Flo and then straight after it I told her what I said and how it went down. I did that because I wanted to make sure she knew what my intentions were and that she’s the only one I want to spend time with.
WHO: Who do you think will stay together after the show?
JAKE: At the time, which it was the most exciting part! the final days was just the couples that spent their time together which I was looking forward to the most because I got to spend more time with Megan. I guess we all kept separate so we didn’t know what was going to happen and how it was going to play out. And those single dates were really strong – so I just assumed that they were going to get stronger.
WHO: Without giving too much away, are you “happy” post-show, in general?
JAKE: We filmed the show long ago, but watching it back it did generally bring back the hard parts and the good, but I’m glad I was a part of it. Not just because of the time that I got to spend with Megan while I was there but I definitely know a lot more about myself to be honest which is good. It’s definitely been an eye-opener.
WHO: Do you still speak to anyone from the show?
JAKE: Yeah, we’re all pretty much still in contact. We’ve got a group chat – which has obviously died down as the show has gone on because everyone has been careful about what they talk to you about and that sort of stuff.
