Jimmy previously worked as a model and was part of Chadwick Models in Sydney but went on to become an airline pilot.
"My dad is a pilot, not a commercial one, but he worked for QANTAS and so did my grandfather. My uncle is also a pilot... so i grew up with it all my life. It's a bit of a family tradition," Jimmy confessed in an interview for Year13 back in 2014.
As for his next big adventure on The Bachelor, the hopeless romantic hopes he and his lucky lady will join the show's Hall of Fame of successful couples.
“I am a big believer in embracing any opportunity that presents itself, especially if it has the potential to change your life for the better,” the new Bachelor said in an official statement.
“The journey ahead will be one of the most challenging experiences that I have ever undertaken, however I am very excited to meet someone that I could potentially spend the rest of my life with.”
Fans are already delighted that Jimmy isn't an ex Bachelorette contestant or celebrity - no offence Richie Strahan, Matty J, Nick Cummins and Locky Gilbert.
"I'm pleased it's someone fresh," one noted on Ten's Instagram post.
"Yaaayýyyyyy not a celebrity or past contestant!" exclaimed another.
Of the nine Aussie Bachelors that have been announced, five have been average Aussies that hadn't been in the spotlight before their reality TV quest for love.
Host Osher Gunsberg will be back hosting the ninth season of the hit dating show and he sounded pretty excited to welcome Jimmy to the Bachelor family in his announcement on Thursday morning.
"Australia the flaps are down and we are coming into land for season NINE of @theBachelorAU!" the TV personality wrote on social media.
"Get ready to soar with airline pilot @jimmynicholson as he navigates the turbulent skies of love searching for his co-pilot in life.
"And yes, he’s as dreamy as you think he is."
