She’s one of the rising stars of the runway, and Bella Hadid’s modeling success was honoured at the GQ Men Of The Year Awards in London on September 6.
The 19-year-old beauty was named the Model Of The Year at the annual event during which she stunned in a Bardot gown.
Collecting her award, the younger sister of modeling sensation Gigi Hadid, said she was “having a heart attack a little bit.”
“This is crazy. I've worked really hard it's crazy to be recognized,” she said.
Hadid then made a touching tribute to her mother Yolanda Foster, who was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2012.
“This is the first time my mum has been out of bed in four years and got her hair and make up done and I'm so happy she's here,” Hadid, who also suffers from the debilitating disease said.
The model recently gave fans insight into her fight against the illness, sharing a photo of her arm hooked to an IV drip on Snapchat.
“Everyday,” she captioned the poignant image.
Hadid, who is dating singer The Weekend, previously opened up about her battle with Lyme Disease in a candid interview with Glamour magazine, describing the debilitating symptoms she struggles with all the time.
“It starts with brain fog; for a while I couldn’t put sentences together. I’m really tired a lot,” the model told Glamour of the infectious disease. “A few weeks ago I had a big campaign shoot that I had to reschedule. It’s hard, but I push through, because at the end of the day, if you’re not working, somebody else is.”
Hadid and her younger brother Anwar, 17, were diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2013. Her sister Gigi, 21, is the only family member not affected by the disease.
