Ben Shelton's father is Bryan Shelton, a former American college tennis coach and former professional tennis player. Now 58 and Ben's coach, Bryan previously won two singles and two doubles ATP tour titles and reached the mixed doubles final at the 1992 French Open.
Ben Shelton played tennis professionally after graduating in 1989 and reached a career-high ranking of no. 55 before retiring in 1997 and beginning a career as a tennis coach.
