“Celebrating Dad’s life and legacy with Steve Irwin Day this November 15th @australiazoo,” Bindi captioned the sweet photo in which she and her father both sport his signature all-khaki look.
“Encouraging everyone to wear a touch of khaki on this amazing day to remember all that Dad did for our world, inspiring us all to love wildlife and wild places. Thank you,” the post continued.
Later in the day, Bindi shared three photos on Twitter of her late father wearing his khaki uniform. “Khaki and the happiest memories. #SteveIrwinDay,” she tweeted.
Her DWTS pro partner Derek Hough also dedicated a heartfelt post to Bindi and her father in honour of the international event.
“Since it’s November 15th in Australia I wanted to wish everyone a wonderful Steve Irwin day. I was always a fan of his passion and love for the world. His legacy lives on. It was such an honor and privilege to get to know and work with his beautiful daughter,” the Instagram post reads.
“Such a special soul. Choreographing and creating with her, helping to tell her story will always be a highlight in my career. This image was taken at the end of our final dance which was a tribute to her super hero. Her Dad. Steve Irwin.”
In September, Bindi honored her father on the 10th anniversary of his death. “You’ll be my hero for my entire existence,” Bindi captioned the snap of her father holding his baby girl in one hand with a big smile on his face. “I love you more than words can describe.”
“I think that Dad was so wonderful because he was like this human hurricane – I can see a lot of that in myself,” she told PEOPLE in May.
“I’m not a very patient person. If I want to do something, I have to do it right now! I kind of share the same love for all wildlife, and all wild places. I think those similarities are really, really strong.”
