Steve Irwin’s legacy has been felt by many, but no one has been touched by The Crocodile Hunter’s passion for animals more than his daughter and fellow wildlife conservationist, Bindi.
The 18-year-old media personality attended the 10th annual Steve Irwin Gala dinner in Brisbane on Nov. 26, a philanthropic event celebrating the life and legacy of the original wildlife warrior.
After hitting the red carpet on the night with her boyfriend, professional wakeboarder, Chandler Powell, 20, Bindi also took over the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors Instagram page to give fans a behind-the-scenes look into the event.
“Tonight we will be raising funds for all of the animals that come through our doors at the Wildlife Hospital for life saving treatment,” Bindi explained to her followers. “Together, we’re continuing Dad’s legacy to protect our wildlife. Thank you for sharing this journey with us.”
In-between acknowledging the positive work achieved by the foundation in the past 12 months, Bindi also took the time to acknowledge the man who started it all.
“As the #SteveIrwinGala comes to an end, this year we reflect on the beautiful memories we have of the ultimate Wildlife Warrior, my Dad, Steve Irwin,” she captioned one heartfelt post. “His legacy will live on forever.”
September 4 marked the 10-year-anniversary of The Crocodile Hunter’s death. While the family honoured the occasion in private, Bindi took to social media to post an adorable throwback tribute, writing alongside the post “You’ll be my hero for my entire existence. I love you more than words can describe.”
