Brooke went on to say it was her choice to end the relationship.
“I had been unhappy for a bit and it wasn’t just solely because of the relationship,” she said.
“We had a very real love in a very unreal situation but we equally had A LOT of pressure on us too. Which I felt I carried everyday.
“At the start of the show, I was the best version of myself and when the show ended and my sister died I became my worst and my saddest,” Brooke shared.
“I love Darvid and he has a good heart but unfortunately we ended up being two different people who wanted different things and that’s just that. No infidelity, no hate, just a pressure cooker.”
Brooke continued, admitting that she missed Darvid and his dog, Dudey, who came to live with the couple when Darvid moved to Melbourne to live with Brooke.
“We’re as amicable as you can be during a healing process. I still love him dearly and have no regrets choosing him. I just wish the world was a little bit more gentle on us in the time we had.
“Cobar and I miss him and Dudey all the time but our time wasn’t now.”
Brooke and Darvid seemed to split quite suddenly at the very beginning of the year, with Darvid also taking to Instagram to announce the end of the relationship, and ‘new beginnings’ for a new year.
He has also returned to his home town of Brisbane.
The pair had been together since filming ended, when Brooke chose Darvid over runner-up Jamie-Lee Dayz.
However, Brooke has admitted previously that it was hard for her to be unable to see Darvid when her older sister passed away suddenly in August this year, in between the show filming and airing.
Taking to Instagram again in a video, she said that she had started 2021 the best she could have been, which was enhanced by time she spent volunteering in remote communities.
"I just want to go back to that. I loved who I was, and not that I've changed, I think I'm just hurting," she admitted.
"I still can't even say my sister's name without crying, and I don't think a breakup can even compare to losing a sibling if I'm being honest," Brooke said candidly.
"I think I grieved the breakup much quicker than I grieved my sister."
