“We are all completely devastated to lose such an amazing, vibrant person. Cal joined our Bake-Off cast last year and instantly brought her unique sparkle to the show,” Wendy Moore, Foxtel’s Group General Manager for Lifestyle, told news.com.au
“Her professionalism, work ethic, and genuine heart-warming humour instantly made her a favourite amongst cast and crew, as well as the Australian audience. We will all miss her so much, and our hearts go out to her family and friends.”
Originally from Christchurch, New Zealand, Cal made her journey to Australia in 2003; settling in Melbourne ahead of her breakout role in the comedy sketch show Skithouse.
For over 20 years, Cal was one of the most beloved personalities in Australian comedy, appearing 14 times at the Melbourne Comedy Festival before becoming a member of the Melbourne Comedy Festival Board of Directors.
Following the news of her passing, colleagues and friends from across the Australian comedy landscape took to social media to pay tribute to Cal and her lasting legacy.
"Most wonderful Cal. Most generous. Most excellent. A huge hole in the arts community and in my heart. I want to send courage and love to her family," wrote Julia Zemiro.
"My heart is broken for her family and for everyone that has ever met her because she was amazing. Today is a terrible day, " shared Urzila Carlson.
Cal's cause of death is currently unknown. Her family have requested privacy at this time.
