SETH ROGEN, THE LION KING
If this is true, it's pretty awesome: in April 2017, The Hollywood Reporter said Rogen was in talks to play stinky, lovable warthog Pumbaa in the live-action Lion King. Even better: the film got a release date, July 19, 2019.
BILLY EICHNER, THE LION KING
Potentially joining Rogen as the other half of the duo? Billy on the Street's hilarious Eichner, who The Hollywood Reporter said may potentially play meerkat Timon.
WILL SMITH, ALADDIN
In April 2017, EW confirmed that Smith is in "early talks" to play the beloved blue guy in the live-action Guy Ritchie-helmed remake of Aladdin — a role made famous by Robin Williams. Also reportedly in the works at the House of Mouse: a live-action remake of Dumbo (with Tim Burton directing and rumors of Eva Green as the female lead), The Little Mermaid and Mulan (cast and crew TBD).
BEYONCÉ, THE LION KING
In a piece of very exciting news in March 2017, Variety reported that Queen Bey was director Jon Favreau's top choice to voice Nala in the upcoming movie — even willing to work the production schedule around the impending birth of her twins. We imagine a new song, or two, or 10 would be in order if the singer were to sign on.
DONALD GLOVER, THE LION KING
He's going to be a mighty king! Glover will star in the upcoming Jon Favreau-directed film, which will use performance-capture technology and computer-generated imagery, according to EW.com — and will also include many of the hit songs from the beloved 1994 animated hit. Hakuna matata, indeed.
JAMES EARL JONES, THE LION KING
This one doesn't require much imagination: Jones will again lend his voice to the original king of the jungle, a role he defined in the 1994 animated classic.
