Chris Brown has been arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, WHO confirms.
Brown was taken into custody Wednesday, August 31, and is being transported to downtown police headquarters where he will be booked, says Lt. Chris Ramirez.
The singer was involved in a nine-hour standoff of sorts with the Los Angeles Police Department at his L.A. mansion after a woman ran out of the house screaming in the early morning hours on Tuesday, August 30.
Los Angeles police are in the process of serving a search warrant and will be searching the home after "at least six people in the house" are taken out, says LAPD Lt. Chris Ramirez. "They are having people come out of the residence and then officers will do a protective sweep."
Ramirez confirms no one has been arrested thus far. "The detectives need to talk to [Chris] first to determine if any crime occurred," adds Officer Liliana Preciado. "There are several people in the home and detectives want to speak to them."
Police arrived after an unidentified woman called 911 from Brown's home and claimed he had allegedly threatened her with a gun, according to the Los Angeles Times.
LAPD police officer Tony Im tells WHO that officers responded to a radio call of a female screaming at 3:11 a.m. "It is an ongoing investigation, so we are waiting for details to come in," says Im, who adds the caller was "somebody screaming and asking for help."
The alleged accusor, Baylee Curran, posted a now-deleted video on her Instagram, saying "Do you all honestly think I wanted this and I caused this? If somebody put a gun to you head, what would you do? Call the police?"
According to police, it is unclear if Brown was home at the time of the call.
But Brown now seems to be remaining inside the home and posting bizarre rant videos on Instagram. According to the Times, police tried to enter his home but were told to get a warrant.
In one video, Brown said he was innocent.
"Every three months y'all come up with something," Brown said in one video, adding, "At the same time when I call the police for stalker people that are endangering my life, they don’t come until the next day."
TMZ reports that a gun and drugs were found at his home.
According to a source, the entertainer mouthed off to police several times during the standoff.
A press release from the LAPD said there is no SWAT team at the home, despite earlier reports from TMZ and the Times of their presence.
The release also said police have no knowledge of a search warrant and that they can't confirm a gun was pointed at someone.
