Chris Dawson has appeared via video in Sydney's Central Local Court, where he did not apply for bail over the disappearance and presumed murder of his wife Lynette. His lawyer Greg Walsh will make an application next week.
He was earlier seen being escorted from a plane in Sydney, with the 70-year-old's car surrounded at one point by media, who had waited outside the court from about 10am hoping to catch a glimpse of the former sports star. His lawyer addressed awaiting media after a short court proceeding.

Before noon, Chris arrived at Sydney Police Centre, in Surry Hills in the back seat of a car.
On Thursday morning, he was seen casually dressed in shorts and a t-shirt, as he walked slowly down the rear stairs of the plane and onto the tarmac.
Flanked by detectives, the now-70-year-old was then escorted into a waiting car.
Sitting next to a detective, Chris showed no emotion as waiting media took pictures.
He was later formally charged with murder and is expected to appear at Central Local Court, in Sydney’s CBD the same day.
All eyes are on the 70-year-old as he walked off his QANTAS flight from Queensland.
In the video above, Dawson is here for questioning.
“A 70-year-old man has been arrested this morning shortly before 8 o’clock in relation to the murder of Lyn Dawson,” confirmed Detective Chief Inspector Chris Olen.
“He’s been taken to Southport where he will be charged. NSW police will seek an extradition.”
