Chris and Elsa tied the knot in 2010 and share three children - daughter India Rose and twin sons Tristan and Sasha.
The family relocated to the Northern NSW town of Byron Bay in search of a more low-key life but mum-of-three Elsa admitted to Harper's Bazaar that she struggled to juggle her career and parenthood.
"I went though a period when I was totally lost. I felt I have given up on that dream, but I couldn't continue on the same path," she told the publication in 2019.
"There are moments you think everything is fine. But then you also worry that people - your husband - will look at you and think, You're just a mum."
Speaking to WHO in 2019, Elsa revealed that it was her husband who supported her venture back into the acting world.
“He encouraged me to go back to work again after I stayed home with kids for a while when they were born, and to not feel guilty about it. He works with me on my lines, my accent, and we have great conversations about the characters I am playing,” she said.
“We are always understanding of one another because we share the same passion for what we do.”
Chris and Elsa are also working on their own separate acting projects.
Whilst Chris is starring in the upcoming blockbuster Thor: Love and Thunder along with fellow Hollywood heavyweights Matt Damon and Idris Elba, Elsa recently worked on film, Carmen.
The film, directed by Benjamin Millipied, also stars Rossy De Palm and Normal People actor Paul Mescal.
