The reports of sexual assault were investigated by The Hollywood Reporter and published late last week, including the first-hand accounts of ‘Lily’ and ‘Zoe’, two starstruck young women, who claim Noth lured them to private areas shortly after meeting them and forced himself on them.
Zoe claims she was only 22 at the time of their meeting, when she was working as an assistant at a talent agency in 2004. Noth allegedly struck up a flirtation after getting hold of her phone number.
In August that year, Zoe took her best friend to sunbathe at the pool in Noth’s West Hollywood apartment complex, but she claims things turned for the worse when he asked her to bring him a book to the apartment upstairs.
She alleged that he started trying to kiss her, leading her to attempt to get away, but she was drawn toward the bed and raped from behind.
“I realised there was blood on my shirt. I got out of there,” she claimed after the experience.
Zoe’s friend then drove her to the hospital.
“I had stitches. Two police officers came. I wouldn’t say who it was,” she said.
While Zoe’s former boss claimed that Zoe called her later on to say that Noth had assaulted her, Zoe does not recall making the phone call.
At Zoe’s request, she did not disclose the information.
“I was 25 at the time. It was a lot.” her former boss claimed.
It has been confirmed she was treated at the UCLA Rape Treatment Crisis Centre in 2006. She claims that memories of the alleged attack were dredged up recently by Noth’s return to the spotlight, given his recent appearance in the Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That.
Accusations have also been made by a second woman, known as Lily, who met Noth while working as a waitress in a New York nightclub in 2018.
“He was hitting on me, for sure. I was flattered. I knew he was married, which is shameful for me to admit,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.
Noth allegedly got her number and asked her out.
“I was like, ‘that’s crazy, Mr. Big is asking me out for dinner,’” she stated.
After the dinner, the pair allegedly headed to his Greenwich Village apartment to sample his whiskey.
“He tried to make out with me. I cautiously entertained it. He’s older and looked older. He kept trying and trying, and I should have said no more firmly and left. And then next thing I knew, he pulled down his pants and he was standing in front of me,” she claimed.
Next, she alleges that “he was having sex with me from the back in a chair. We were in front of a mirror. I was kind of crying as it happened.”
After the alleged incident, Noth then left a voicemail on Lily’s phone, which was listened to by her friend, Alex.
“It was, ‘hey, hope you didn’t take anything wrong last night. We had fun. Just want to make sure you didn’t take it the wrong way,’” Alex said.
Noth and Lily went on to exchange texts in March and April of 2015, with Noth asking her to meet up once more, and Lily remaining non-committal.
Noth has denied any wrongdoing in a statement made to Page Six.
“The accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false. These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago – no always means no – that is a line I did not cross. The encounters were consensual. It’s difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out. I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.”
However, more allegations have surfaced in the days since The Hollywood Reporter published their investigation.
Instagram account Diet Prada was able to resurface a newspaper clipping from 1995 from The National Enquirer, in which Noth’s ex-girlfriend, model Beverly Johnson, alleged that he ‘beat her’ during their five-year relationship, and made death threats against her, often calling her ‘up to 25 times a day’.
She also alleged that he threatened to disfigure her, and ‘vowed to kill her dog’.
American actress and producer Zoe Lister-Jones also made allegations against Noth, posting a five-page letter to her Instagram detailing her experience with him.
“In my twenties I worked at a club in [New York] that Chris Noth owned and on the few occasions he would show up, he was consistently sexually inappropriate with a fellow female promoter,” she wrote.
“That same year I was a guest star on Law and Order, and it was his first episode returning as a detective after [Sex and the City]. He was drunk on set … In one take he got close to me, sniffed my neck, and whispered, ‘you smell good’.
“I didn’t say anything. My friend at the club never said anything. It’s so rare that we do.”
Noth is yet to comment on the issues raised by Johnson and Lister.
While Noth’s Sex and the City character has been killed off in the reboot, he has been removed from the CBS series The Equalizer, where he played the role of William Bishop.
“Noth will no longer film additional episodes of The Equalizer, effective immediately,” Universal Television and CBS said in a joint statement.
