Speaking to Confidential, Colin revealed that Pete wished him well for his I'm A Celeb stint.
“I have known Pete for 10 years, we are friends, we used to live near each other. We don’t have to agree with each other’s views, that is what a friendship with someone is. But as a person, I think he is a nice guy,” he told the publication.
“I don’t have to agree with everything to be someone’s friend. You are not going to work with a guy for 10 years and not like them.”
“We’ve all got to do what we’ve got to do to get through it,” he said, speaking of Pete's coronavirus conspiracy theories.
“What has happened (to Pete) is pretty bad, I’d hate that to happen to me, that is all I will say. I don’t wish any misfortune on anyone like that because it is pretty hard to maintain that level of hatred from a lot of people.”
Due to the coronavirus, this year's season of I'm A Celeb was filmed in Australia back in November.
The statement confirming that Pete had been dropped read: “Network 10 can confirm that Pete Evans will not be appearing on this season of I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!”
On top of that, Pete's books publisher Pan Macmillian also announced they're "finalising" their contractual relationship with him as a result of his post.
Colin entered the jungle during Wednesday night's episode and shared his exciting news on social media.
"Well that time I went to Ireland .......... well I lied !!!" he wrote on Instagram.
"After the year we had , why not do it !!!!!! Strap in cos I know what’s coming !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
The post was met with many likes and comments, including one from Pete himself who posted two heart and one fire emoji beneath it.
