Speaking to Confidential, Kochie revealed that despite earlier reports that he would be replaced by Perth-based Channel 7 reporter Basil Zempilas, he's still very much contracted.
And should he be making any changes in the future about his long-standing role, he'd be opting to scale1 back to only working four days in the near future.
“I can definitely say I am around for a bit longer,” Koch said.
“Two years ago when I signed my last contract I said if I want to renew in future I would want to look at scaling back. It has been in mutual agreement, Seven have been great.
“It takes a toll and you have other things you want to do,” the 61-year-old added.
Executive producer of the popular breakfast show Michael Pell has since released a statement to Confidential. “Look, we don’t comment on contract negotiations. But I’ll tell you this much. Kochie has been loyal to Seven for longer than the record-breaking 15 years he’s celebrating this week. He’s never played things out publicly. I’m happy to say he isn’t going anywhere.”
Good to know!
