Home Alone (1990)
While being left behind during your family Christmas holiday may put a dampener on the season for some, for eight-year-old Kevin, played by Macaulay Culkin, his newfound freedom is a Christmas miracle.
Although his time at home alone initially was running smoothly, everything changes after two intruders attempt to burgle Kevin's family home, setting off a hilariously elaborate scheme of booby traps and childhood imagination.

The Santa Clause (1994)
Following what appeared to be a fairly uneventful Christmas, Scott Calvin, played by Tim Allen, and his son Charlie awake to find Santa on their roof, however, Scott startles him and Santa slips, leaving only his red suit and a business card behind.
After donning the red suit, Scott is shuttled through the skies by Santa's reindeer to deliver his remaining presents before embarking on their adventure back to the North Pole. While their trip to Santa's workshop may have initially been an exciting surprise, Scott soon learns that the journey was not without its conditions...

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
As the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, Jack Skellington is in charge of organising the town's annual Halloween celebrations however, unbeknownst to his citizens, Jack is slowly growing tired of the Halloween routine and sets out on a journey to discover something new and exciting.
After stumbling across the neighbouring Christmas Town, Jack deep dives into the newfound world of Christmas as he attempts to learn everything he can about the holiday, before launching an elaborate scheme to kidnap Christmas Town leader Santa Claus.

Deck the Halls (2006)
As a self-proclaimed Christmas expert, Steve Finch, played by Matthew Broderick, was the Christmas lights king of his town, however, after discovering that their neighbourhood display is visible from space, Steve's new neighbour Buddy, played by Danny Devito, embarks on his quest to become the brightest house in the street.
As Buddy's light display continues to grow, so too does the festive rivalry between him and Steve, with the neighbours both hatching elaborate schemes and quiet competitions with the hopes of outdoing one another.

The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)
Based on Charles Dickens' classic story, The Muppet Christmas Carol follows Ebenezer Scrooge, played by Michael Caine, as he is visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.
Joining Scrooge on his journey through time is an ensemble of The Muppets Show favourites, such as Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, as they help Scrooge uncover the true meaning of the Christmas season.

The Family Stone (2005)
Meredith, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, reluctantly joins her boyfriend Everett's family for Christmas, with their quirky demeanour and conservative values quickly causing tension during the family's Christmas celebrations.
The family's matriarch, played by Diane Keaton, is initially sceptical of Meredith, with their growing disconnect serving as the catalyst for a number of awkward family moments.

Die Hard (1988)
Although its status as a true Christmas film is up for debate, Die Hard follows NYPD detective John McClane, played by Bruce Willis, as he attempts to reconcile with his estranged wife on Christmas Eve while at a party.
After making his way to the party's location, the building is suddenly seized by German radical Hans Gruber, played by Alan Rickman, with John being the only person in the building not taken hostage. Narrowly escaping capture, John begins to plan how to free the partygoers from the tower.
