Craig Brewer, who directed 'Footloose' and the hit series 'Empire', is set to take on the challenge with Paramount Pictures. 'Black-ish' creator Kenya Barris is also tipped to re-write a script by the previous writers of the original, Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield.
According to Deadline, the sequel to the 1988 comedy sensation follows Akeen— an African prince— who "learns about a long lost son, and must return to bring back the original cast".
