Elsa Pataky arrived to the Melbourne Cup in a helicopter
No Uber for her! Elsa Pataky, actress and wife of Hollywood heavyweight Chris Hemsworth, touched down at Flemington in a helicopter for her first Melbourne Cup. “We just landed,” she says, chatting outside the Emirates marquee. “I am really excited. I can’t wait to see all the fashion. It’s a fashion event, not only horses.”
While Chris “is very good with the horses” and Pataky, 40, had an early fancy for the big race in Who Shot Thebarman (“I was here yesterday and did a photo shoot with him, so I feel something special for him”) she insists she won’t make her final betting choice until she actually checks out the horses: “I love them. I’ve had horses since I was a kid. I will look at them one by one—I prefer to see the horses before I bet.”
Pataky was also fussy about her Cup look. She was shown a selection of outfits, but her decision was based on one factor. “I thought I really have to wear an Australian designer,” says the Byron Bay-based mother-of-three, who went with Cappellazzo Couture. “This colour is amazing and this is a day of colour. It’s my first time here and it’s my first time to wear a fascinator with such amazing colours.”
