When will A Simple Favour 2 be released?
The sequel to A Simple Favour was first announced in May 2022 – and ever since, fans have been eagerly awaiting any news of the movie. Although the film has since begun filming, we’re still a way off from the actual premiere date.
Back in November 2022, director Paul Feig told SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show that the movie would be released in 2023.
“We kind of have a deal to do it, it’s just figuring out scheduling and everything. That’s the thing that rules Hollywood is schedules,” he said at the time. “Because now Blake is gonna have a baby and stuff. So, we’ll see. It’s gonna get made. It’s just not sure what the timeline is right now.
However, it’s clearly been delayed, in part due to the lengthy Hollywood strikes of last year – but we’re hopeful we’ll see the movie released by the end of 2024.

While we know the movie is underway, we still don’t have any trailers. What we do have though is a number of telling photos from filming, which show Anna and Blake returning to their roles and a wedding with a mysterious man…
What is the Plot of A Simple Favour 2?
At this stage, we have no details about the new plot – especially since unlike the original movie, which was based on the novel by Darcey Bell, the sequel has been written from scratch by Jessica Sharzer.
“I’ve actually read the script now and it’s so good,” Anna told E! News in January 2023. “They did such a great job of, in some ways, making her sort of older and wiser. But, at the same time, there are qualities that a person just can’t really change about themselves.”
Following the release of images from set in March 2024, multiple sources announced the sequel would take place in Capri, Italy, as Emily plans to marry a wealthy Italian businessman.
“Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square,” Deadline shared.
Who is in the Cast of A Simple Favor 2?
Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively and Henry Golding are set to reprise their iconic roles for the sequel, as are Andrew Rannells, Joshua Stine, Ian Ho, Bashir Salahuddin and Kelly McCormick.
Deadline have also reported Elena Sofia Ricci, Michele Morrone, Elizabeth Perkins, Alex Newell, Taylor Ortega, Lorenzo de Moor and Aparna Nancherla are also set to star in the movie.
