Abbie Chatfield came across as quite the femme fatale on Matt Agnew’s season of The Bachelor, but now the 2019 runner-up has made a refreshing confession about her sex life and how she struggled with self-slut shaming.
Speaking on her podcast It’s A Lot, Abbie told listeners some candid, personal details in a bid to to destigmatise sexual health, including that she learned she has human papillomavirus (HPV) and has to get a biopsy.
“While I know that HPV is ridiculously common, it’s hard to not feel like I did the wrong thing in the past and I keep beating myself up over this,” she said.
“When it comes to self slut-shaming, this is something that I still struggle with a lot. I have had STIs in the past,” she added.
Whilst Abbie said she’s never been angry at a partner for giving her and STI, she didn’t treat herself with the same kindness.
“When I’ve gotten STI’s before I’ve been like ‘I’m such a f***ing idiot’ and you do beat yourself up,” she said, but added that there’s a mentality that’s helped her change her perspective on STIs.
“If you’re work and someone’s irresponsible enough to come into work when they have influenza A (the flu) and you sit next to them and get the flu, that’s not your fault. You don’t think ‘I shouldn’t have gone to work that day, I shouldn’t have sat next to that person, I should’ve sanitised my entire desk.'”
The former Bachelor star, who is also set to star on the upcoming season of Bachelor in Paradise, also shared details about her number of sexual partners.
“I used to have a list of people that I’d slept with. When I stopped counting it was like 50,” she said on the podcast.
The reality star and podcast host also wowed her fans with a brand new hair transformation.
Her golden locks are no more and Abbie has now dyed her hair red joking in a video debuting the new colour, “I take back every ranga joke I made circa 2009.”
“I LOVE IT,” former Bachelor In Paradise star Alisha Aitken-Radburn wrote.
