Seven’s hit new singing show ALL TOGETHER NOW has got the whole of Australia on its feet and last night 19-year-old music student Royston Sagigi-Baira became the first act to achieve a perfect score of 100.
He got all 100 judges upstanding – including captain Ronan Keating – with his heartfelt rendition of Sam Smith’s Lay Me Down.
Ronan was full of praise for the youngster, who hails from Mapoon in Far North Queensland. “What a voice! What a moment! You have something really special. You’ve got connection, presence, everything! You’re a star.
“You got 100 people standing up and let me tell you Royston, this lot are really tough and you did it, you nailed it.”
Royston said it was an emotional night and that his late mum, who only passed away in February, was watching over him.
“My mum was one of my biggest fans,” he said. “It’s really sad she’s not here with me. I know she’s here with me in spirit and watching over me performing.”
Royston goes straight through to the Grand Final alongside last week’s winner, Brisbane’s Lai Utovou. Five more heats remain before our finalists battle it out for $100,000 prize money.
ALL TOGETHER NOW is Seven’s highest rating new show this year, averaging 1.06 million combined viewers last night.
Hosted by Julia Zemiro, ALL TOGETHER NOW airs Sundays at 7pm on Channel Seven.
