It took Amy Schumer far longer than we expected to discover her son’s name sounded like ‘genital’.

Speaking about the awkward blunder, the hilarious I Feel Pretty actress said it randomly dawned on her months after giving birth to a son, whose original name was Gene Attel Fisher.
Naturally, the revelation was a shock to the system considering she describes herself as a “filthy person” who loves lewd jokes.
“All the blood rushed to my head. Everyone was saying, ‘I don’t think it’s a big deal.’ I’m like, ‘What are you talking about?’ It was a huge f**k up,” Amy, 38, told Howard Stern during a video interview.

The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo author continued: “You know, you’re the new parents, just kind of tired and in ecstasy, and I don’t know if like some troll on the internet, or somebody, and I read it and went, ‘Oh my God,'” she said with a laugh while covering her little one’s ears.
Although some of her friends said it wasn’t a big deal, she plans to keep the stuff up from her 11-month-old baby!
“Do not tell him! We’re not telling him. It’s so embarrassing.”

The comedienne revealed on the latest episode of her Spotify podcast— Amy Schumer Presents: 3 Girls, 1 Keith— that after much deliberation, she and her husband Chris decided to change his name.
“So do you guys know that Gene, our baby’s name is officially changed?” she asked her listeners. “It’s now Gene David Fischer. It was Gene Attell Fischer but we realised that we by accident named our son, ‘genital.'”
Her guest and longtime friend Claudia O’Doherty— who appeared in Amy’s first movie, ‘Trainwreck’— chimed in, saying: “My mum pointed that out to me actually. My mum was like, ‘Amy’s called her son genital.’ And I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ And then, she was right.”

This silly blunder aside, Amy has been extremely open and honest about the highs and lows of motherhood, keeping it real, raw and unfiltered every step of the way.
“I really have had a beautiful experience having a baby,” she told Oprah Winfrey in January while appearing as a special guest on Oprah’s 2020 Vision: Your Life In Focus Tour.
“You know, it’s different for everybody. But I really have to recommend if you’ve got the resources to have a baby, have a baby. It’s been so life-changing for me. And I really like the guy.”
After an extremely difficult pregnancy in which she suffered from Hyperemesis Gravidarum— a form of acute morning sickness— Amy said becoming a mother made her realise how incredibly strong women are.

“We are warriors. All of us. I mean, for real. That is what I learned,” she continued. “I didn’t just learn how strong I was. I really learned, as a whole, how strong women are. And, you know, men are great, too. And, like, that’s awesome and you guys can throw a touch down. But, like, can you make a baby?”
The 38-year-old has since confirmed she’s started IVF again.
