Jason Momoa fans, I come with good news. Your favourite action-packed adventure flick of his, Aquaman, is coming to Netflix Australia NEXT MONTH!

In case you haven’t seen the highest-grossing DC Comic film in history, here’s a little summary of the plot.

Starring Jason Momoa, Nichole Kidman, Amber Heard and Willem Dafoe, the movie follows half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry (Momoa)— the human-born heir to the underwater kingdom known as Atlantis. The vibrant city is ruled by Arthur’s evil half brother Ocean Master Orm who plans to conquer the remaining oceanic people. Desperate to prevent a war between the worlds of ocean and land, Arthur— who is helped by royal counsellor Vulko— must fight his brother and retrieve the legendary Trident of Atlan in order to save the kingdom.

According to Box Office Mojo, the hit film— which has received rave reviews from even the harshest of critics— reeled in $1.147 billion, dethroning The Dark Knight Rises which brought in a cool $1.084 billion! After the latest instalment in the DC Extended Universe surpassed everyone’s predictions, Warner Brothers announced they plan to develop Aquaman 2 which is slated to be released on December 22, 2022.

Although fans no doubt excited for the follow-up, three months ago (before the news was announced) director James Wan, who was also behind the Conjuring franchise, said he wasn’t too keen on a sequel.

“I never set out to make sequels to any of my films I direct. If they happen, that’s great because that means people out there love it and they want more of it,” Wan told Deadline at the time.

Despite his hesitation, he did say at the time that if a follow up was commissioned, he’d oversee the project and hand-select writers to help him pen the script.

In case you’re one of the only people in the universe who hasn’t seen the masterpiece, take a look at the trailer below.
