Ariana Grande has reportedly finalised her divorce from her husband Dalton Gomez after two years of marriage.
According to TMZ, Dalton will receive $1.25 million tax-free from Ariana in place of spousal support, with the real estate agent also alleged to receive 50% of the net profit from the sale of the couple’s Los Angeles home.
News of the couple’s divorce first surfaced in early September 2023 following reports that Ariana had filed for divorce in a Los Angeles County court.
“They’ve been really caring and respectful of one another through every step of this process,” a source told People at the time, with the source also claiming that the couple have since “moved on.”
“They came to the decision together. They were having problems before January, but they want to remain best friends,” added the source.
The Grammy Award winner’s love life has made headlines for years but her romance with Dalton, a Los Angeles real estate agent, had been kept much more private than her previous relationships with stars.
Rumours surrounding the couple’s divorce began to circulate in July 2023, following various publications reporting that the couple had separated after two years of marriage.
One source told TMZ that the pair are “heading to divorce,” whilst others told the publication that the couple had been experiencing problems since before Ariana began production on Wicked, with confirmation of their divorce proceedings being made public two months later.
The news didn’t come as a complete shock to fans, who spotted the singer at Wimbledon earlier the same week without her wedding ring.
Ariana and Dalton tied the knot at their home in Montecito, California in May 2021.
“They got married,” the pop star’s rep confirmed to multiple outlets at the time. “It was tiny and intimate — less than 20 people. The room was so happy and full of love. The couple and both families couldn’t be happier.”
“Both Ari and Dalton love Montecito. They spend a lot of time there,” a source told WHO‘s sister site PEOPLE. “It seems only natural that they would get married at Ari’s beautiful and historic house.”
Ariana and Dalton were spotted kissing by US tabloid TMZ back in February 2020, but according to PEOPLE they started dating a month prior.
“They have been hanging out for a couple of months,” a source told the WHO‘s sister publication in March. “Ariana doesn’t want to do another public relationship so she is trying to keep this one quiet, but she seems very happy with Dalton.”
The romance was confirmed in May of that year when Ariana debuted her new man in her and Justin Bieber’s music video, Stuck With U – a song encouraging people to stay at home when the coronavirus pandemic first kicked off.
Ariana and Dalton quarantined together with a source telling PEOPLE that she’s “very serious about self-distancing and has been with the same group of people for days.”
“One of the people she is with right now is Dalton,” they added.
Though the couple made rare appearances on each other’s social media, Ariana shared some sweet pictures of herself and Dalton as they celebrated her 27th birthday in June 2020.
In one post captioned “almost 27,” the 7 rings singer shared a series of images, including a poolside selfie of Dalton giving her a tender cuddle.
Along with friends and family, Ariana celebrated her 27th year with a midsommar themed bash and shared two snaps of herself and Dalton – one of which depicted them sharing a romantic smooch.
For Dalton’s birthday in August, Ariana shared a rare and heartfelt tribute to her beau.
Captioning a series of videos and photos of them, the singer-songwriter wrote: “hbd to my baby my best friend my fav part of all the days 🙂 i love u.”
She even included a meme that shared some *interesting* photoshopping, joking about what her and Dalton’s children would look like making fans think that this relationship could be the real deal.
Us Weekly also reported that month that she “really, really likes” her boyfriend.
“Ariana sees something different in Dalton that she has never seen before in guys she has previously dated,” a source told the publication.
“He is the type of guy she has been looking for. He’s very protective of her, will go out of his way for her and does little things that are chivalrous. Dalton will go above and beyond to meet her needs.”
Ariana also continued to share numerous photos of herself and Dalton indulging in a little PDA – including one of her and Dalton holding hands at the 2020 Video Music Awards.
By December 2020 it became official – Ariana confirmed that she and Dalton were engaged.
“Forever n then some,” she cheekily captioned a collection of photos featuring her husband-to-be.
The Positions singer also shared an up-close look at her stunning diamond and pearl engagement ring.
