Now, two weeks after welcoming their bundle of joy into the world, the couple revealed their son’s name is Isaac Menelik Giovanni Erwin.
In the most recent episode of the supermodel’s wildly popular podcast, Pretty Big Deal, Justin said he came up with the name when he was in middle school.
“I brainstormed my own [baby names] for my future son and I knew it was going to be Isaac just even from then till now,” he said of the Biblical moniker.
Isaac’s middle name, Menelik, was inspired by Ashley’s life-changing trip to Ethiopia last Christmas.
“Menelik is the first emperor of Ethiopia. It also means ‘son of the wise,'” she explained. “And Menelik was the son of Queen of Sheba and King Solomon.”
Giovanni, their bub’s second middle name, is the Italian version of John— the name of both Ashley and Justin’s grandfathers as well as the founder of Justin’s church where he was baptised.
“Everything in his name is pointing to legacy, whether it’s Isaac with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, or Menelik being royal African roots, and then Giovanni,” the filmmaker said of his adorable newborn.
The podcast host revealed they were growing their family in August, sharing a video showing off her bulging baby bump while wishing Justin a happy wedding anniversary.
“Nine years ago today, I married the love of my life. It has been the best journey with my favourite person in the world!” the 31-year-old captioned the video.
“Today, we are feeling so blessed, grateful and excited to celebrate with our GROWING FAMILY! Happy anniversary, @mrjustinervin ❤️ Life is about to get even better. 😘”
