Last year’s Bachelor Locky Gilbert has wished his winner, Irena Srbinovska, a very happy birthday by sharing a short video featuring a heap of their best moments together.
“Happy birthday to the most beautiful, caring person that has ever walked into my life,” he wrote.
“I am so happy I met you on the crazy adventure. You have made me the happiest man I have ever been.
“I can’t wait to spend so many more day together with you. I love you so much babe. @irena_srbinovska,” Locky finished.
The pair, who have now spent one loved-up year together, will spend Irena’s birthday in Perth, where they currently reside.
Irena, who wished Locky a happy birthday only a few weeks ago, had more birthday love to share on her own Instagram this week, with her brother, Igor, celebrating his birthday the day before her’s.
The nurse shared a series of family snaps from a trip to Florence, as well as some that included Locky.
“Today is an extra special day,” she wrote.
“Happy birthday to my little brother, we have travelled the world together, last year we celebrated your birthday in Melbourne’s lockdown and this year we are on opposite sides of the country with you celebrating another lockdown birthday, this time in Sydney,” she reflected.
“Wishing you the happiest birthday! Miss you ❤️.”
She also took the chance to wish her father, Vasco, a happy Father’s Day.
“And an extra special Father’s Day for my dad, we take turns sharing your day with our birthdays which you said is the greatest gift a Father could have,” Irena wrote.
“You are our greatest gift, we almost lost you last year and I thank my lucky stars that we still have you in our life. Thank you for being the best dad that anyone could ask for. Love you and miss you 😘” she added.
Vasco suffered a medical emergency last year, and lockdowns and border closures meant that Irena could not travel to be with him.
That situation, as well as online bullying following her win on The Bachelor led Irena to suffer a miscarriage.
“During our first few months together I, unfortunately, suffered a miscarriage,” she told WHO in July.
“But Locky was my absolute rock, and having his support made me love him even more.”
As for what will come next for the couple, Locky is hoping to set up an adventure travel company in WA, given that he cannot return to his original work in Bali, while Irena will return to nursing.
This comes after the couple spent six months spent travelling around Australia together, snaps of which are seen throughout Locky’s tribute video.
“When you’re on the road with someone like this for so long, you really get to see the good, the bad, and the ugly. But we’ve had an amazing time and know we’ll be together forever,” Locky told WHO.
