Bert Newton has been taken to hospital suffering pneuomnia.
The Australia TV veteran, 78, is now “on the mend”, The Morning Show reports, however had to spend multiple days in the hospital recovering.
His wife of more than 40 years, Patti Newton, was by his bedside almost the entire time.

“There’s still ongoing testing to be done and he needs a bit of recovery obviously,” The Morning Show’s entertainment reporter Peter Ford said.
“He is 78-years-old, pneumonia is a very serious thing to have but that’s the reality of the life of Bert and Patti and yes Patti was there at his bedside pretty much the entire time that he was in hospital.”
A photo of the six-time Gold Logie winner recovering in hospital surrounded by his grandchildren was then shown on screen.
This is not Newton’s first serious hospital stay. In 2012 the star underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery.
