Before becoming a mum, Blake Lively had babies on the brain: “If I could spit out a litter of kids, I would,” she has said. Now, following the birth of daughter James in 2014 and with another baby on the way, Lively, 28, still has plans to fill a mini-bus with her brood.
“We’re officially breeders,” the actress, who wed Ryan Reynolds in 2012, told the US Today show.
Both Lively and Reynolds come from large families. Lively is the youngest of five and Reynolds, 39, has three siblings. The couple, who met on the set of The Green Lantern, bonded over their shared family values, including a desire to raise a family with a “normal upbringing”. They now live quietly on an acreage in upstate New York away from the paparazzi.
Late last year, Lively and Reynolds brought James to Australia to enjoy a southern-hemisphere summer while Lively filmed horror-flick, The Shallows. Speaking of her first-born, Lively told Today host Savannah Guthrie, “She’s the most fun, funny human being I’ve ever been around in my life.”
The L’Oréal ambassador has often spoken out about the dream of giving her children the same serene childhood she enjoyed, and prefers pastry to partying. “Oh, she’s quite a baker,” said Reynolds to E! News. “There’s nothing she can’t cook, that’s sort of the problem…aren’t actors supposed to be out causing massive amounts of bad press and trouble? But this girl’s in a kitchen all day.” (Reynolds even calls their kitchen ‘The Blakery,’ Lively told Vogue).
The expectant mum doesn’t just cook for friends and family either. According to Reynolds, she’s known for delivering her delicacies, including soufflés, to film sets. “What’s weird is she would live 30 minutes away, but when she brought stuff it was still warm. I think there’s an Easy Bake Oven in her car.”
