We all know Bradley Cooper was deserving of an Oscar nomination for A Star Is Born. And apparently, I’m not the only one who’s distraught over the snubbing.

He is, too.
The 44-year-old stopped by Supersoul Conversations From Times Square to talk about the rejection, admitting that although he wasn’t expecting to receive a nomination for Best Director, he felt pretty embarrassed that he didn’t make the cut!
“I was not surprised, I’m never surprised about not getting nominated,” the ‘Hangover’ star told Queen Oprah Winfrey. “I was with my friend in New York City at coffee shop and I look down at my phone, and Nicole [Caruso, his publicist] had texted me and they said congratulations on these other things, but they didn’t tell me the bad news. And I went, ‘Oh wow.’ And the first thing I felt was embarrassment.”
Cooper—otherwise known as God’s gift to earth— later admitted that the snub reinforced the feeling that he didn’t do his job properly which we all know is the furthest thing from the truth.
“I felt embarrassed that I didn’t do my part. Like, ‘Oh gosh, I didn’t do my job.’ But the truth is, even if I got the nomination, that should not give me any sense of whether I did my job or not. That’s the trick. The trick is to make something you believe in and you work hard.”
A Star is Born was Cooper’s first directorial debut and no one’s denying the fact that he did a brilliant job. Starring alongside his close friend and personal cheerleader Lady Gaga, Cooper not only proved he was more than capable of smoothly transitioning into film making but he can also sing… like, really well!
He’s literally the gift that keeps on giving.
Despite missing out on an Oscar nomination for best director, he managed to score three nods for best actor, best picture and best-adapted screenplay alongside Eric Roth and Will Fetters.
Cooper and Gaga are set to reunite at this year’s Oscars and will most no doubt deliver a stellar performance of everyone’s favourite song ‘Shallow’ as the track goes up for Best Original Song.
