February 16 marks the 10-year anniversary of Britney Spears’s infamous head-shaving meltdown – that preceded her losing custody of her two sons (Jayden, 10, and Sean Preston, 11) and being placed on a psychiatric hold, followed by stints in rehab.
Now a decade on, healthy, happy and being looked after: Spears, 35, is living a life that seems worlds away from where she was a 10 years earlier. From there, under the conservatorship of her father, Jamie Spears, she has spent a decade rebuilding her life and career.
“I’m loving myself and learning about myself every day,” the star said in September. “Being a mother and being with my boys has made me so much more accepting of myself. I’m their mom, whatever. That has been a really big thing for me over these last few years.”
Performing her Piece of Me Las Vegas residency has also provided stability, career-wise. Of releasing her latest album, Glory, in August, “I don’t really see it as a comeback,” she has said. “I think I’ve never really left. It’s a reinvention of myself and just a different time in my life—a really good, glorious time.”
