Carrie Bickmore has opened up about being criticised for her parenting choices.
The mother-of-two explains in Stellar that she was judged for letting her nine-year-old son, Ollie, walk to school.
“A few months ago on air, I mentioned how my nine-year-old had started walking to school on his own,” she wrote.
“I shared how I had no idea you were meant to call the school to check your child had made it safely.”
Bickmore, 36, then went onto reveal that she thought she was just discussing her son’s “new-found independence”, but instead she had opened a can of worms.
“People went out of their way to tell me nine is too young for a kid to walk to school, and I was negligent for not calling to check he’d made it safely.”
The Project host revealed that the school is only 75 metres from her home and does not require her son to cross a road, and wants to each him independence.
Bickmore has previously discussed how showering with her son caused differing opinions from her friends.
